July 20 - Stoney Creek is OUT OF ROOMS!!! All that is left is a few suites ranging
from $160 to $200. If you haven't booked your room, see if you can share with someone
who has, try for one of the suites, check for cancellations, or there are 2 hotels less than a
mile away from Stoney Creek. There is a Holiday Inn Express at 9409 Hwy 16, Valley
View Plaza, Onalaska, WI. Their rooms run from $127 to $175 - (608) 783-6555. There
is also a Hampton Inn at 308 Hampton Court, Onalaska, WI. Their rooms are ranging
from $127 to $214 - (608) 779-5000. Again, we really don't want people drinking and
driving! Try not to book hotels too far out than a mile as La Crosse can be confusing for
visitors.
July 11 - BOOK YOUR ROOMS NOW!!! Stoney Creek is running out of hotel rooms.
We talked to them today and made sure our block was filled, but they are really running
low. Also, we've heard that people are having problems when they've called in to book
their hotel rooms. If you have booked a room outside of our block, don't worry because
we'll be able to apply the discount when you check out and pay. If you got a room you
didn't want to be in the block, please call the hotel ASAP to see if they have something
else you'd rather have. We've also found out that some corporate discounts may be better
than the block rate (AAA, AARP, etc.), but that also isn't important until check out and
paying. The hotel doesn't do double discounts, so whichever one is a better discount will
be used when you check out on Sunday morning.
June 30 - For those of you just getting your invites, our web site is still under a bit of
construction (it's summer, there's gotta be construction). I'll be finishing up the web site
in the next couple of nights, so please check back for new information and updates. I will
be posting updates on this main page as we need to, so you may want to check back every
week or so just to see if there is anything new that you need to know. For instance -
speaking of construction, I had just finished printing and sealing our invitations when I
had to make a quick trip up to La Crosse. What did I run into but full blown construction
on I-90/94 past Wisconsin Dells! One lane traffic, 55 mph, and I have no idea how long
it is going to last. Let's just say, it's not going to take 2.25 hours to get to La Crosse from
Madison anymore. Hwy 14 is also not a viable option for those thinking to outsmart the
construction as 14 is so badly under construction that it is closed to all but local traffic
only, and I know that 14 will be under construction for the rest of the summer. Anyway,
that's my first piece of information for everyone. From now on, I'll start dating my
updates so you know if/when I'm working.
